
Montesano and Grays Harbor offer the visitor many opportunities to learn about and enjoy this truly beautiful area. Within easy walking distance is all of "Monte's" small town, friendly charm including historic homes and the County Court House. An energetic hike will take you to idyllic Lake Sylvia for fishing, boating and swimming. Within a view minutes drive, you may visit the famed Tall ships project and perhaps board the Lady Washington, or you might prefer Westport's sport fishing, Ocean Shore's beaches, or the Olympic National Parks rain forests. From the Northern edge of the Olympic Peninsula, Victoria, British Columbia is a pleasant ferry cruise away. Also Porland, Seattle and the Columbia River are only a few hours drive. Enjoy fishing and boating at the Chehalis, Wynooche, and Satsop Rivers. Several golf courses can also keep you busy. In July enjoy Montesano's Festival of People and in December celebrate the Festival of Lights, which includes a large parade and street fair. The County fair offers much to do, and the fair grounds are within 10 minutes from The Abel House. Throughout the year also experience the horse show, quilt show, antique fair, and home and garden show. There's also a self guided walking tour of Montesano that shows the local points of interest and old homes.
